July 20 - Sunday Cassville Fun - Day 2 of Kayaking

I'm working hard to keep you updated. So much left to say - we still have Minnesota and early Wisco, plus the Green Bay wrap up - oh my. Double and triple days are in order.
Auntie Jenny's birthday was July 15. Mine was June 22nd. She had a cake made for the both of us, which we've been enjoying since our first evening. I even got a new dress and a zip cardigan, wrapped with a bow. Fantastic, since I love gifts and cake with my name on it. Birthdays rock.

Photos of cake by Rory.

Cassville lies across the Mississippi from Iowa, a state we're not slated to visit. In these photos, Jon and I are at Dewey State Park, taking Roscoe the Wonder Dog for a walk. From the road here we can see the whole panorama of Wisconsin, Iowa and the River. The photos don't do it justice.

Early this morning, Sunday, Uncle Jon served up his waffle buffet. With the garden raspberry patch in full July swing, we were able to place a raspberry in each square. Then butter dots follow and pure Wisconsin syrup. Yay for local sweetener.

Jon cooking up local eggs "stolen from the mouths of the Amish" as Jon puts it.

Also, cable t.v. with breakfast and the Tour de France's 15th stage
Tallard to Nimes.

The breakfast meal started us out well, as we were headed back on the Grant River (yesterday the first trip) to kayak.

Here's the team. We've lost Abby to summer school studies, so it's just the four of us. We've been calling Jon, Abby and Rory the Team Nike Kayak team, since their all in Nike wear. Here they are now, sans Abby, getting assembled.

Here's Rory at his green kayak. Note the bug proof head scarf. Very inventive.

Behold the Grant River, at Camel Back Ridge road. This is where most of the Inner Tubers put in, but we're several hours early, so the river belongs to us.

Limestone waterfall is a big early hit.

Jon takes many swim breaks, here, face down like a dead man. Nice Jon.

Rory looks on for treasure of the aquatic kind.

Back in the kayak!

Much of today's kayaking included looking for trash treasures and doing cleanup. Here is Rory and Jenn, scoping out beer cans, also the site of a sunglasses find.

Here, Jon scales the hill for a handful of cans.

Realizing that I hadn't had a shot of myself, here it is, alive and well.

Final trash review seen below:

See the broken plate, sunglasses and lipstick.

Over-n-out.
